2020 has been a huge year for change and pivoting, priorities have shifted and many of us are asking ourselves these questions.
- Do you want to live where you live?
- Do you want to work where you work?
If you’ve been made redundant, on furlough, want to work more flexibly or get promoted or paid more, perhaps it’s time to search for a new job.
If you want to get hired, there’s a 4-stage process that helps you land the role.
- DISCOVER who and where you are
- EXPLORE the employment landscape
- COMMUNICATE your story
- CONNECT with your network, potential employers, recruiters and headhunters.
DISCOVER who you are and where you are
You need to dig deep and gather some insights. When you understand what makes you tick, your superpowers, your knowledge and expertise, your transferable skills and your values it helps you articulate what you bring to the party and how you gain competitive edge. You examine where you have liked working historically and where you haven’t. Write down your 10 greatest achievements in and out of work, notice any similarities? Ask others where they have seen you at your best and what they think your strengths are.
EXPLORE where you are headed
Once you understand YOU, it is easier to decide where you are headed. You need to explore the employment landscape and have an understanding of where you would like to work and where you can make a difference and would be sought after. Once you know where you are going it is much easier to get there.
COMMUNICATE brand you
